To ensure smooth installation and efficient operation of tungsten carbide punches, the following steps should be carefully followed:
- Pre-cleaning and Lubrication: Firstly, thoroughly clean the tungsten carbide punch and apply an appropriate amount of lubricating oil to its long handle to reduce friction and ensure smooth installation.
- Gentle Insertion, Avoid Force: Gently insert the punch into the bottom of the upper die bushing on the large workstation mold, remembering not to use excessive force or tools such as nylon hammers. Additionally, do not tighten the bolts on the upper die bushing to fix the punch before it is correctly positioned, to avoid damaging the mold or affecting its precision.
II. Minimizing Gap for Extended Lifespan
To maximize the lifespan of tungsten carbide punch molds, the gap between the outer diameter of the upper die bushing and the turret hole should be minimized as much as possible. Here are the specific operation steps:
- Thorough Cleaning and Lubrication: First, thoroughly clean the keyway and inner diameter of the turret hole, and apply an appropriate amount of lubricating oil to ensure the smooth progress of subsequent operations.
- Precise Keyway Adjustment: Carefully adjust the keyway of the upper die guide bushing to perfectly match the key of the turret hole, ensuring precise positioning of the mold.
- Vertical Insertion, Avoid Tilting: Insert the upper die guide bushing vertically and steadily into the turret hole, ensuring stability and avoiding any tilting. The upper die guide bushing should slide into the turret hole naturally under its own weight.
- Gentle Correction, Ensure Proper Positioning: If the upper die bushing tilts during insertion, use soft material tools such as nylon hammers to gently tap and correct it. Repeat the tapping until the upper die guide bushing completely slides into the correct position under its own weight, ensuring the precision and stability of the mold.
By following these maintenance tips, you can easily extend the lifespan of tungsten carbide punches, improve production efficiency, and safeguard your industrial production.
